China’s largest smartphone manufacturer OPPO uses Crunchfish’s software for gesture control of the camera in its flagship model R11. The right of use is accommodated within the one-year supplementary agreement announced on November 25, 2016.

“We are pleased to having received the customer’s approval to announce that it is our technology that enables control of the R11’s camera function. It is important for us to strengthen the relationship with OPPO and at the same time get even more evidence that leading smartphone manufacturers choose our software for their most prestigious models, “says Joakim Nydemark, CEO of Crunchfish.

“OPPO is a player at the forefront with its camera features and its design, which largely contributed to the rapidly increasing market share in the past year. OPPO has overtaken its competitors to become China’s largest smartphone manufacturer, “says Joakim Nydemark.

With market penetration in mature markets of around 90 percent and strong competition between smartphone manufacturers, there is a great need to deliver distinctive features. The big selfie-trend has led many manufacturers to invest in delivering a better camera experience, where gesture control plays an important role.
