Crunchfish signs agreement with Lenovo for AR glasses

Crunchfish Gesture Interaction AB (“Crunchfish”) enters a license agreement with Lenovo (Shanghai), to enable gesture control in initially Lenovo’s DaystAR New G2 AR glasses. Lenovo will integrate Crunchfish’s software in their commercial AR glasses to enable touchless navigation using hand gestures. It is a 3-years agreement, with a business model that is mainly based on a running royalty per produced unit including Crunchfish’s software.

The agreement gives Lenovo the right to use Crunchfish’s gesture control technology in AR glasses and Smart glasses worldwide over the next 3 years. Lenovo DaystAR New G2 is one of Lenovo’s latest AR glasses targeting enterprise and industrial markets. With the glasses connected to a smartphone or PC, the user can interact with a large virtual screen that not only adds a better user experience, but also provides a lot of new features. By adding gesture control, the users are in full control of the glasses without touching any physical buttons or screens.

Crunchfish XR technology enables an exceedingly precise and flexible interaction solution to control virtual objects or menu systems. To achieve an experience that is as realistic as possible in augmented reality, extreme accuracy is required of how the software interprets the movement of the hand. Crunchfish’s XR technology is optimized for AR glasses and VR devices but also supports interaction with mobile phones and public screens.

Lenovo is focused on a vision to deliver smarter technology for all. By designing, engineering, and building the world’s most complete portfolio of smart devices and infrastructure, Lenovo is also leading an Intelligent transformation – to create better experiences and opportunities for millions of customers around the world.

“We believe the user experience and an intuitive interaction is crucial for the success of our AR glasses why Crunchfish’s gesture control technology is an important part of our solutions”, says Karl Lu, Senior Manager at Lenovo Research.

“We are very proud that Lenovo – a global AR and consumer electronics company – has decided to use our gesture control software in their portfolio of AR glasses. To pass Lenovo’s rigorous evaluation process, further confirms the performance of our software and we are delighted to add touchless gestures to the AR experience for their users”, says Joakim Nydemark, CEO at Crunchfish Gesture Interaction.
