Patent CN201380040370.1 protects Crunchfish’s basic technology within gesture control in China. The focus of the invention relates to effective detection of the gesture that the user does in front of the camera. For gesture control to work in mobile applications, the detection algorithms of gestures must be fast, streamlined and precise. With the granted patent, Crunchfish has been protected by 2033 for these algorithms in China. The technology has previously been granted patents in Sweden and the United States.
“It is gratifying that we also have patents in China for one of the key parts of our gesture technology. A strong patent portfolio together with the right positioning in the market is strategically important for the company as development in AR and VR increases market demand for new effective interaction methods such as gesture control.” says Joachim Samuelsson, Crunchfish Chairman and Chief IP Officer.
Crunchfish’s patent portfolio
Crunchfish has, nationally and internationally, 51 active patents and patent applications in two technology areas – gesture control and augmented reality. There are 10 unique inventions in gesture control, all of which have been granted patents and 13 unique inventions in augmented reality of which 5 have been approved patents. The company owns all its patents and patent applications without limitation.
Crunchfish’s strategy is to protect the company’s technology in all geographically important markets. Crunchfish intends to expand its patent portfolio continuously to selected markets and through new inventions in both gesture control and augmented reality.
