Crunchfish announces Digital Cash proximity interaction patent
Crunchfish Digital Cash AB (“Crunchfish”) has received a Notice of Allowance from the Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV) regarding proximity interaction in settings where multiple service terminals may be present. The innovation helps the user select or ascertain having a connection to the indented service terminal before committing an action, for instance an offline payment. The Swedish patent application number is SE2050469-2 and has priority until April 2040. A positive patentability assessment IPRP for the corresponding international PCT application has also been received.
Connecting with devices or service terminals nearby using short-range wireless communication, such as Bluetooth, introduces a degree of uncertainty for the user when establishing the connection and committing an action, for instance an offline payment. A reason for such uncertainty is if there are other devices or terminals within Bluetooth range.
This innovation helps the user to select and to be assured that its interaction is with the intended device or terminal by matching audio or visual media content sent from the service terminal with what is expressed on the user’s own device. This is beneficial in other types of digital services in addition to payments, such as information exchanges, identity authentications or access authorization.
