Crunchfish have been nominated as finalist for the Digital Currency Awards in the category Outstanding Advancement in Digital Currency. This award recognizes the most exciting digital currency business of the year, one that has made a huge impression in the space with new and innovative services. Crunchfish has also been selected to pitch at the Fintech Innovation Showcase at the Digital Currency Conference (DCC) in Mexico City which Crunchfish CEO Joachim Samuelsson attends as a speaker and panelist.

Crunchfish are invited to attend the Digital Currency Awards ceremony at 5 pm CST on Thursday 18^th May on the main plenary stage of Digital Currency Conference (DCC) in Mexico City at 5 pm CST on Thursday 18^th May, where the winners will be announced. Crunchfish is nominated in the category Outstanding Advancement in Digital Currency. The category is open to companies that have created competition and transformed the way we experience digital currency. As it was a highly competitive process, Crunchfish are very proud and excited of being recognized. Immediately after the awards presentations their will be an evening cocktail reception, where Crunchfish will have the opportunity to network with some of the leading experts in the industry. Currency Research as organizer will shortly be posting a full list of finalists in each category on LinkedIn and their website.

Crunchfish have also been selected to pitch at the Fintech Innovation Showcase at DCC. Each company will be given a firm 10 minutes to showcase their project at 4.30 pm CST on Wednesday 17th May 2023. The other companies that have been selected to present at the Fintech Innovation Showcase are Cipher-Core, Currency Network, e-Currency, Fireblocks, FNA, Idemia, Progressoft, Ripple, and Wadzpay, of which some are well known to Crunchfish as we are in discussions of integrating Crunchfish Digital Cash with their product platforms.  

Crunchfish will be represented at the DCC by CEO Joachim Samuelsson who will participate as an expert in a panel on offline payments and give a presentation on the theme Central Banks should modernize payments. Currency Research have today released An Inflection Point for Global Payments: Industry Perspectives in 2023. It is a special feature showcasing several timely case studies, expert perspectives, and relevant solutions for Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) from Crunchfish, Discover Global Network, NPCI International, ProgressSoft, RTGS.global, StoneX Global Payments, and Visa. This feature will be provided to all delegates at the upcoming Digital Currency Conference on May 17-19th.

In this feature Crunchfish presented the article: Central banks should modernize payments. Who else would? Public goods like the internet, electricity or telecom are carefully designed to continue working despite temporary outages. It is hard to understand why digital payments is not as robust as it should be given its critical role in modern societies. Technology exists that makes digital payment services as robust, secure, and inclusive as cash payments. Crunchfish argue that financial regulators should demand that payment services must fulfill these design criteria to be allowed to operate in the country. Also, central banks should take it upon themselves to modernize payments. CBDC presents the perfect opportunity. Crunchfish participated at the Digital Euro Conference as a panellist in the CBDC technological choices session. In the recorded panel, Crunchfish CEO Joachim Samuelsson highlighted the importance for CBDCs to have survivability in the face of temporary failures on links and backend servers.

On March 31st, Crunchfish participated at the inaugural Digital Euro Conference in Frankfurt as an exhibitor and as a panelist in the session CBDC technological choices. 

Crunchfish CEO Joachim Samuelsson highlighted in the panel the importance for CBDCs to have survivability in the face of temporary failures on links and backend servers. The panel had representation from the Central Bank of Hungary, IBM and Ripple and was moderated by Tamara Schmidt, Executive Director of the Digital Euro Association.
